2012年11月4日，在美国拉斯维加斯市举办的第82届国际勘探地球物理学会 (SEG) 年会的颁奖 仪式上，美国华人石油协会（CAPA）2012年会长、美国康菲石油公司 (ConocoPhillips) 资深科学家朱宪怀博士和中国科学技术大学地球和空间科学学院张捷教授因创立了石油勘探地球物理领域的近地表地震层析成像（CT）理论和方法而共同荣获2012年Reginald Fessenden科技成就奖。

Reginald Fessenden科技成就奖是国际勘探地球物理学会在1960年设立的一个金奖，奖励全球对地球物理学有特殊的历史性重要贡献的科学家，包括重要发明或 理论、重要科学概念的创始人。自1961年现代地震学奠基人之一、德国科学家Beno Gutenberg教授因确定了地球核幔边界的深度而第一位荣获该奖之后，全球共有60位科学家因42项重要科学技术贡献而获奖。今年该奖在历史上第一次奖励给 华裔科学家，并且同时奖励两位华裔科学家。

第82届国际勘探地球物理学会年会的新闻发布会介绍说，国际勘探地球物理学会评奖委员会评选朱宪怀和张捷共享2012年Reginald Fessenden奖，因为两位科学家创立并完善了为地球浅层复杂构造准确成像的层析成像的理论和方法，从而有效地解决了石油勘探工业面临的一系列复杂近 地表成像难题。

地球的近地表500米之内常出现极其复杂的地质构造，因而严重地影响地球深部构造成像和准 确探测石油储量。获奖引言介绍，朱宪怀首先提出了用人工地震潜行波做层析成像和层析静校正的理论方法来解决复杂近地表成像问题，并用大量实际数据得到了验证；张捷将近地表层析成像的方法扩展到所有类型地震波，并能高效率地解决非线性成像问题，其方法很快实现了产业化。

朱宪怀毕业于中国石油大学（华东）石油地球物理勘探专业，随后在中石化南京物探研究院工作。1985在美国康奈尔大学做访问学者。1990年获美国德州大学地球物理学博士学位。 毕业后一直在美国石油公司和地球物理服务公司工作，担任技术主管。他是美国德州大学著名教授George McMechan的第一位大陆学生。George McMechan教授获今年SEG的最高荣誉奖：Maurice Ewing Medal奖。

Dear CAPA student members and friends:

To encourage participation of CAPA events by students majoring in Petroleum related disciplines and to promote the quality of technical presentation by these students, we are inviting all interested students to submit an abstract of a paper for presentation at our 2011 Technical Symposium.

Please submit your one‐page abstract along with your short biography giving your school affiliation, degree program and contact information. The paper should be related to the theme of the symposium. Its content can be related to the upstream or downstream oil and gas industry, conventional or unconventional resources, domestic or international plays.

Papers chosen for presentation at the Symposium will be judged by a panel of industry experts according to technical content and quality of presentation in English. The top three presenters will be awarded $500, $300 and $200, respectively.

Please submit your abstracts to Dr. Hon‐Chung Lau at honchung.lau@gmail.com no later than September 15th.

Dear CAPA Members and Friends:

Chinese American Petroleum Association (CAPA) is pleased to announce that we are going to have a petroleum and petrochemical technical symposium on October 21, 2011. Like last year, the symposium will be held at the conference facility of Marathon Oil Tower, 5555 San Felipe Rd, Houston TX 77056, courtesy of Marathon Oil Corporation.

The theme of the symposium this year, reflecting the dynamic nature of our industry, is “Opportunities and Challenges for Conventional and Unconventional Recourses under High Cost Environment”. This includes upstream and downstream, conventional and unconventional resources, and domestic and international plays. It will again serve as a great platform for Chinese American petroleum professionals to interact and share with each other the latest advancements in technologies and new industry trends. SEG Foundation has provided CAPA $2000 for promoting student paper contest at the technical symposium.
